rubies and love songs

17 Sep

I really dislike it when it’s been 7 days since my last post. I think this week I had tooo much to say, so I’ve spared you. I have no less than 5 drafts sitting on my dashboard, waiting to be revisited. Anywho, on to rubies and love songs, shall we?

This past week was New York Fashion Week, a time of year I adore. I’ve been following NYFW since the days when I had to wait for the Daily News to report back on the looks the following day. Now? I get to watch most of the shows right from my suburban living room. Ah, technology. Spring/Summer shows are always more fun for me. Here are a few gorgeous looks that I think you’ll enjoy even if you aren’t a style lover:

I love seeing beautiful photos of fancy tattooed ladies, because I like to think of myself as a fancy tattooed lady. I have 5 and no, most of them are not tiny + hidden. One day, I’d like to have my talented pal Jule take some photos of me that show them off.

Have a beautiful weekend!

I’m not going to explain what this adorable monster is all about because I want you to click through to the post I featured on KidCrave this past Monday.

Read the post, check out Ryan’s story, then sample and buy the abum!

Happy Weekend! Hope you get to #dofunstuff

Today is my Mother’s 50th Birthday. We’re throwing her a surprise party! This has long been my favorite photo of her. It’s weird to think that in this picture, she’s a good 6 or 7 years younger than I am today.

Have a beautiful weekend!

Despite everything, I am still trying to enjoy the rest of this sometimes beautiful, sometimes brutal summer. We plan on heading back down to the shore next week while some of Jim’s family is there.

Enjoy your weekend! I’ll be sure to keep you posted on Puppy Idol/The Puplerette/Big Puppy/So You Think You Can Adopt a Puppy?

These are images of my almost-22-year-old cousin’s apartment in Savannah, Georgia. Let me repeat that: My almost-22-year-old cousin’s apartment – like where she lives while she attends college. Have you ever heard of a 22 year old, full-time college student with such a sweet little abode? Miller Lite signs, Bob Marley posters and a sticky beer pong table is more like it. The SCAD student did such a fabulous job designing her very own space, I can only imagine what her home will look like one day.

You can see more images of her apartment and plenty of inspiring content on her blog – Love You in the Fall.

Hope your weekend is filled with dozens of pretty little things!

I’m usually not a big cupcake fan (well mostly because of their recent surge in popularity). I really prefer chocolate cake, a chocolate brownie or a chocolate chip cookie. Are you seeing a pattern here? Chocoholic. At any rate, this is just delightful. I couldn’t resist sharing it.

Merry weekend!

A flirtation with the delightful life has inspired –rubies and love songs, a weekly post that presents something positively uplifting, powerfully felicitous, sugary and sunshine-y, in the hopes of making you smile out loud.

Because I’m going to need a nursery one day, I’m drooling over this one today.

I love every single thing about this photo found in dottie angel’s flickr photosteam. From the pretty cupboard to the charming vintage toy and right down to her happy sandals. Me thinks if it’s not too hot tomorrow, I’ll wear my new straight leg Hudsons rolled up quite a bit.

Hope your weekend is beautiful!

If you’re my true (blog) friend, you’re brain just went something like this:

Brain- MMMMMM, what is that?!

And your stomach chimed in:

Stomach- Is it lunch time yet? Let’s skip lunch and go for whatever in baby jesus’ name that is.

This is doughnut french toast. One more time in case it didn’t sink in. DOUGHNUT FRENCH TOAST. The recipe can be found at Dujour Mag. You’re welcome.

Bon weekend!
