Maternity Shoot

31 Mar

I was never sure if I would do a maternity shoot. Jim and I aren’t really all that comfortable in front of the camera. I love the photos from my wedding, but I don’t exactly love the photos of me from my wedding. My dear friend Jule will be shooting us, and even she will tell you, I make the dumbest faces in pictures. Over the years, she has managed to capture a few great shots that I love. So I know we are bound to end up with a handful of beautiful photos.

This is what inspired me to do a shoot in their first place. These photos are amazing. I promised Jim that unlike the fancy shmancy shoots we’ve done before, this is a relaxed let-us-truly-be-us session.

Here are some photos of moi taken by Julia Bernd, the great:

I’m excited! And I promise to share the photos asap!

A Slice of Style

21 Feb

I would probably never wear this look because I am not a fan of skirts or white button down shirts (thanks to my obnoxious rack), but I still love it. It’s perfect.

Also, New York Fashion Week has come and gone. You didn’t think you were getting away without a little Fall 2011 fun, did you?

2011 Style

I love this entire ensemble…and I don’t even like pants. I’m typically a jeans/dress/leggings/shorts kind of gal, but these look so easy. You know, if they had a belly panel ; )

Family Photo

Our Christmas weekend was beautiful. I hope yours was too! This was taken at my parents home on Christmas Day. I finally started “styling the bump” (2nd trimester tip taken from Ain’t No Mom Jeans) on Christmas Eve. No more hiding it in fear of just looking like I ate too many burgers. Yipeeee!

rubies and love songs

24 Dec

I want to look like this for my Christmas weekend. Well, maybe with a feeew less baubles. I really want this red thing. Anywho, it isn’t going to happen, but it’s still a lovely and festive inspiration.

Merry Christmas loves!

Pretty Things

20 Dec

Many blogs/bloggers post some of the beautiful things they come across around the web. I adore these blogs, but this has never been what Solitary in Sanity has been about. Lately I’ve been bookmarking the things that tickle  my fancy on a very cool site called Svpply. The site has been in my Google Reader for forever, and I was quite excited when I found out anyone can open an account. If you’re interested, check mine out! Or, at least add Svpply to your preferred reader, you’re bound to meet a few curious things that catch your eye.

rubies and love songs

17 Sep

I really dislike it when it’s been 7 days since my last post. I think this week I had tooo much to say, so I’ve spared you. I have no less than 5 drafts sitting on my dashboard, waiting to be revisited. Anywho, on to rubies and love songs, shall we?

This past week was New York Fashion Week, a time of year I adore. I’ve been following NYFW since the days when I had to wait for the Daily News to report back on the looks the following day. Now? I get to watch most of the shows right from my suburban living room. Ah, technology. Spring/Summer shows are always more fun for me. Here are a few gorgeous looks that I think you’ll enjoy even if you aren’t a style lover:
